The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) conducted searches at the residences of suspended Police Inspector Sunil Gudlar and Hawaldar Hussain, along with a few others in connection with the bribery case that led to the duo’s arrest. The development has indicated that more people are likely implicated as the investigation continues.
Sources revealed to The Goan that the raids, which began on Wednesday, continued through Thursday and might extend over the next few days.
“We have seized bank passbooks, documents related to movable and immovable properties, and other evidence relevant to the investigation. Searches are being carried out at the residences of the suspended PI, the hawaldar and other persons,” the source said.
The ACB has so far not disclosed the identities of other possible suspects in the case.
Gudlar and Hussain were arrested late on Monday in a trap set by the ACB, during which they were caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a licensed Belagavi-based goat meat trader. According to the ACB, the two allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh in addition to a monthly payment of Rs 25,000 to allow the trader to operate his business in Goa.
