Anjuna restaurant booked for violating noise pollution norms

The Anjuna Police have registered an FIR against the owner/manager of Gypsea Restaurant for violating noise pollution regulations, after the establishment was found playing music beyond permissible limits.

According to police reports, the case was registered on March 5 under Section 5 of The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 and Section 15 of The Environment Protection Act, 1986.

The violation was detected on March 2 from 10 pm to March 3 at 6 am, when real-time sound level monitoring at Gypsea Restaurant, Anjuna, recorded a noise level of 66.7 dB, exceeding the permissible limit.

Authorities stated that the excessive noise caused disturbance in the locality, violating environmental laws. The case is currently under investigation.
