In a decisive move against unauthorised construction following the high court order on illegal constructions, the Bastora panchayat has issued show-cause notices to an additional 22 commercial establishments in the village.

With this latest action, the total number of structures served notices has now reached 53.

On Wednesday, the panchayat targeted all commercial structures and shops near the Tar bridge, issuing notices to the occupants for alleged illegal construction. This comes on the heels of previous notices served to 27 establishments, followed by four more issued late Tuesday evening.

According to sources within the panchayat, some of the affected business owners have begun responding to the notices, and their submissions are currently under review by the authorities.

The show-cause notices were officially issued by Panchayat Secretary Smita Parab, directing the concerned parties to provide explanations as to why their unauthorised constructions should not be sealed.

The panchayat’s firm stance on the matter underscores its commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring that commercial structures comply with legal requirements.

Local authorities have indicated that further action will depend on the responses received from the owners.

The panchayat has assured that due process will be followed, and any decision regarding the fate of these structures will be taken in accordance with legal provisions.
