The Cavelossim Village Panchayat has renovated an old house that was in a very poor condition. The walls had large cracks and were at risk of collapsing during the monsoon.
Sarpanch Dixon Vaz, who led the renovation, said the panchayat was approached by villager Bento Rodrigues. Bento is caring for his 96-year-old bedridden mother and needed urgent help. “We decided to repair the house under disaster management. It feels good to support the family,” Dixon said.
The sarpanch added that the panchayat has previously repaired houses and built toilets for financially struggling families.
