A significant change within the Pramod Sawant led government is likely following appointment of new BJP national president, which is expected in the third week of April.

The process of electing the next Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president will gain momentum after the ongoing Parliament session concludes on Thursday, April 4.

Highly placed sources confirmed that any changes in the cabinet will take place only after the new BJP national President takes charge.

“There is nothing for now. We first have to elect our new president, which will be somewhere between April 20-25,” sources said.

“Some changes (in the cabinet) might happen after that,” sources added.

Sawant as well as BJP chief have already submitted a performance cum report card of Ministers to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior BJP leaders.

According to the sources, the newly formed department of drinking water will go to a new Minister post cabinet changes. Untill then, the portfolio will be with CM.

Speculations were rife about cabinet reshuffle to accommodate Congress turncoats for quite some time or rather since the time Lok Sabha polls were held.

The buzz got momentum, just ahead of the Budget Session, last month, after Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar announced the possible changes in the Sawant led government within a fortnight or a month.

Tawadkar had said that there have been speculations with regards to possible induction of MLAs like Digambar Kamat, Nilesh Cabral, Sankalp Amonkar and Michael Lobo.

Last year, State remained abuzz over possible reshuffle in the Sawant led cabinet  throughout 2024 -- with BJP ditching out several deadlines.

There were initial talks about Sawant replacing two of his Ministers to accommodate the new entrants.
