Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stressed the urgent need for insurance protection against accidental deaths as he conceded the rise in vehicular accidents during the launch of an awareness campaign for the PM-Suraksha Bima Yojana and PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
He stated that the campaign aims to achieve 100 per cent citizen coverage in Goa by January 2025.
The PM-Suraksha Bima Yojana offers a one-year accidental insurance plan with a coverage of Rs 2 lakh for death and Rs 1 lakh for partial disability, all for a nominal annual premium of just Rs 20. Meanwhile, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana provides Rs 2 lakh in coverage for death due to any cause, available for an annual premium of Rs 436.
"It is essential to ensure that every citizen receives this support. Both schemes require minimal contributions, but the coverage they provide is invaluable," Sawant added.
Goa CSR Authority will conduct a 15-day awareness drive to ensure residents are well-informed about these schemes and motivated to enroll. The only requirement to apply is possessing a bank or post office account.
