PANAJI:
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today remembered his idol and former State CM and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's contribution to the growth of the State and country using science and innovation as a tool.
He was speaking while addressing Manohat Parrikar Vidnyan Mahotsav, which will witness 90 renowned scientists from various fields engaging with students at nine venues across Goa.
Sawant highlighted the importance of science and innovation in driving progress for both Goa and India. He emphasized that the event is a significant step towards integrating science and innovation into the development of the state and the country, in line with Parrikar's vision.
This year, Mohit Kumar, an associate professor at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, was honoured with the Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award 2024 for his pioneering research in cancer treatment.
Sawant praised his work for addressing significant challenges in healthcare through innovative scientific approaches.
Sawant said that pursuing science should not be limited to academic qualifications.
“The world is moving towards a knowledge-based economy, and our youth must think beyond traditional boundaries,” he said. He encouraged students to use their creativity to develop innovative solutions in fields such as medicine, technology, and environmental sustainability.
Chief Minister also mentioned the success of the Science Film Festival held earlier this year in Goa, where over 6,000 students participated.
