MARGAO
Cuncolim MLA and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has directed the officials to address the issue of waterlogging and the bottleneck road at Paroda to ensure that commuters don’t face difficulties during the rainy season.
Along with officials and locals, Yuri Alemao conducted a site inspection at Paroda to address the long-standing issues of the bottlenecked road and waterlogging during the rainy season. Officials from PWD, Water Supply, Roads, GSIDC, and other stakeholders were present on the occasion.
The bottleneck road at Paroda has been a major concern, exacerbated by the growing vehicular traffic on the Margao-Quepem road. Alemao acknowledged the severity of the issue, stating that he has personally witnessed the problems caused by this bottleneck and has instructed officials to take necessary steps.
Alemao said that due to the growing vehicular traffic on the Margao-Quepem road, the major district road at Paroda needed attention as it has a bottleneck at one place, which creates hurdles to the smooth flow of traffic. “I have personally seen how this bottleneck road creates problems, and even villagers had brought this issue to my notice. Subsequently, I had asked officials to take steps, and now we are on it to resolve this issue,” Alemao said, adding that he is committed to finding solutions to this pressing problem.
“There is another major problem in this area of waterlogging due to many reasons. We have identified the causes and are working on it, so it doesn’t become a problem for locals and also those who pass through here during the rainy season,” he said.
Yuri added: “Our goal is to ensure that these projects are completed swiftly, bringing much-needed relief to the people travelling on this Margao-Quepem road. I have directed the officials to complete these works as soon as possible,” Alemao said, adding a new water pipeline is being laid in Paroda village, so they don’t face any issue due to the burst of the water pipeline.
