Customers uncertain about service restoration
An AC was gutted in a fire at the SBI Bank in Agonda on Sunday.

An AC was gutted in a fire in the inverter room of the SBI Bank in Agonda late Sunday night, destroying cables of the computer system and disrupting banking services at the branch on Monday.
The incident came to light when the bank was opened on Monday morning, and staff noticed smoke and the foul odour of burnt items.
The staff then found that the split AC installed to maintain a cool temperature for the bank’s operating systems was gutted in a fire in the UPS/Inverter room.
While no computer equipment was burnt, the network cables were reduced to ashes.
The incident is reported to have taken place sometime between Saturday night and Sunday night.
Speaking to reporters, Agonda SBI Branch Manager Rahul Kumar informed them that no banking systems were affected on account of the fire in the UPS/Inverter room.
“However, banking operations have been suspended as of now, as the power supply is presently shut down on the advice of the electricity officials to avoid any further sparks. Once the power supply is restored, the bank will function normally.”
Contrary to what the branch manager stated, a number of bank customers who had gone to the branch for their banking work said it would be surprising if services in the bank were restored within the next two days.
Meanwhile, customers were also irked that the SBI ATM located outside the SBI Agonda branch has been non-functional for over two months.
Even though several people visit the ATM, SBI authorities have still not taken any action to restore the ATM services.
With services at the bank disrupted due to the fire incident, hundreds of SBI Agonda customers are likely to be affected over the next few days.
