PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today announced that the foundation stone for the long-pending 'Ambedkar Bhavan' in Porvorim will be laid within the next six months, with construction work expected to be completed within his government tenure.
Speaking at a commemorative event of the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Sawant said that the government has earmarked Rs 10 crore for the project.
"For years, people have been demanding an Ambedkar Bhavan. Today, we have finally allocated the land, and work will begin soon,” further assuring that the project will be completed within the tenure of the current government.
Sawant highlighted that the Bhavan, planned on a 2,140 sq m plot, will provide hostel facilities for students from remote areas of Goa and other states. It will also feature a multipurpose hall and infrastructure for skilling, reskilling, and upskilling programs aimed at empowering youth, he added
