Panaji: At the Serendipity Arts Festival 2024, a unique collaboration between Aabhat Studio, ThinkArts, and Bookworm Goa is introducing children to eco-conscious practices through art, architecture, and storytelling.

“We aim to do more than just teach techniques; it’s about sparking curiosity in how ancient practices can address modern challenges,” said Bhawna Jaimini of Aabhat Studio, which led workshops on traditional methods like wattle and daub. Seven-year-old Ahan, who joined a brick-making session, shared, “It was fun to play with lots of mud, and I learned how to make bricks!”

Bookworm Goa integrated storytelling into the programme, curating books on conservation and architecture. “It’s about making children feel welcome and inspired to explore new ideas,” said facilitator Sanika Dhakephalkar. Nine-year-old Ruhi loved the experience, saying, “I loved the colourful book and drawing a mushroom while listening to my favourite song.”

ThinkArts complemented the initiative with workshops in art, music, and storytelling. “We believe in giving children a platform to explore their creative potential,” said Antara, a facilitator.

Parents praised the programme’s impact. “Children gained a deeper appreciation for the environment and traditional practices,” said Monisha Tulsiani, whose child participated.
