The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed representative of M/s Lion Engineering Consultants Pvt Ltd to appear before it on Wednesday in connection with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Moses Pinto over the Porvorim flyover works.
The PIL seeks remedial measures to tackle issues arising from the ongoing project in Porvorim.
The Division Bench of Justice M S Karnik and Justice Nivedita Mehta on Tuesday directed the Public Works Department to direct the presence of the firm's representative in Court.
In a prior hearing, the government informed the court that a joint meeting had decided to hot-mix the alternative roads created due to the project so as to mitigate dust pollution and ease traffic congestion.
Additional measures include the deployment of motorcycle ambulances on both sides of the Panaji-Mapusa highway and an ambulance stationed at Porvorim to manage medical emergencies.
The North Goa Collector issued two directives mandating the project contractor to deploy 30 traffic marshals and ensure proper lighting along the construction zone.
The second directive is to order the removal of a kiosk near Mall De Goa, which has been identified as a traffic obstruction and an accident risk.
