Kidnapped minor girl rescued from K'taka; abductor held for rape

A minor girl, who was kidnapped from Drampaur, has been rescued from Hanabaratti-Belgaum in Karnataka.

The Margao Police registered an offence of rape after the victim alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the accused on multiple occasions. Besides registering a rape case under section 64 of the BNS, the police also invoked Section 8(2) of the Goa Children's Act and Sections 4, 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.

The parents lodged a complaint with the Margao Police Station on January 8 last month that an unknown person had kidnapped their minor daughter. During the investigation, with the help of call monitoring and technical data analysis, the police discovered that the minor girl was located in Hanabaratti, Belgaum District, Karnataka.

A police team of PSI Sameer Goankar, PC Rizwan Shaik and LPC Sunita Gaonkar proceeded to investigate at Hanabaratti, Nesargi, Karnataka and with the help of police assistance of Nesargi Police Station, and continuous monitoring of technical surveillance, the minor girl was traced with the accused, Sunil Pujari, 30, a resident of Odlembhat, Quepem, who was arrested on Wednesday for kidnapping the minor.

Superintendent of police, South Tikam Singh Verma informed that the victim girl's statement was recorded, facilitated by an NGO, wherein she disclosed that she was sexually assaulted by the accused on multiple occasions. 

Investigation of the case is carried out by LPSI Aanushka Parab under the guidance of PI MTPS Tulshidas Naik under the supervision of SDPO Margao Siddhant U Shirodkar and overall supervision of Tikam Singh Verma, SP, South.
