Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched the Smart Transit Card by the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL), under the tagline ‘One Card, Many Destinations’. The card aims to revolutionise public transport in Goa by enabling cashless travel across all KTCL buses, including the ‘Maji Bus’ services.
Speaking at the launch event, Sawant highlighted the benefits of the card, which offers a 50% discount for students and senior citizens and a 10% discount for first-time users. Sawant handed over the first batch of cards to students, senior citizens, women, and other commuters during the ceremony. The event was attended by Transport and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, KTCL Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar, and others.
The Smart Transit Card aims to simplify travel for students and senior citizens by eliminating the need for separate ID cards. The CM announced plans to make the card mandatory for students and hinted at the introduction of family cards in the near future.
Sawant also revealed that KTCL is conducting a trial phase for buses within Goa, with plans to expand services to destinations outside the State soon. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision for an efficient and eco-friendly transportation system.
