Lokotsav 2025 to feature 600 folk artists and 1,000 craftspersons at Kala Academy

Lokotsav 2025 is set to take place from January 17 to 26 at Darya Sangam, Kala Academy. This year the National Level Folk Festival will bring together around 600 folk artists and 1,000 craftspersons from across the country.

Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude highlighted, "Lokotsav is a perfect platform for artisans to showcase and sell their crafts, and its popularity has been growing each year." This 24th edition will see performances by folk artists from various Indian states, including traditional Goan dances like Ganesh Vandana, Kunbi, and Jagor, and performances from Rajasthan, Assam, and others.

Approximately 550 stalls will exhibit handicrafts such as Bandhani, Kathputali, Leather Bags, and Goan crafts. Visitors can also savour traditional foods from different states daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Evening cultural performances will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The festival also features a "Tribal Craft Mela" and a painting and sculpture exhibition commemorating the centenary of Dr. Manohar Rai Sardesai and Dnyanpeeth Awardee Ravindra Kelekar. A Molela terracotta art workshop will take place from January 20 to 24.
