A 37-year-old man from Mauritius was arrested near Baina Beach, Mormugao, on Wednesday on charges of staying in India without valid travel documents.
The accused, identified as Atish Indurjeet Ishur, of Mahebourg, Mauritius, was apprehended during a routine investigation by Mormugao Police.
The arrest was made following a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Saidatta Naik, who stated that Atish was found in violation of the Foreigners Order, 1948, and the Foreigners Act, 1946.
Atish was taken into custody after he was found staying without valid travel documents.
Intimation of his arrest was communicated to his mother, Mohini Kumari Ishur, via a WhatsApp call, as per legal protocol.
The case has been registered under Mormugao Police Station under sections 7(1)(3) of the Foreigners Order 1948 read with Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946.
The investigation is being handled by PSI Stanley Gomes, and further inquiries are ongoing to determine the duration of the accused’s stay in India and the circumstances surrounding his presence in Goa.
