Nepali succumbs to injuries after Cortalim flyover self-accident

A Nepal national, who had been undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC) Bambolim since mid-February following a road accident, passed away while still under medical care, police sources said.

The deceased has been identified as Naisara Dangi, a native of Dailekh, Nepal, and a resident of Porvorim. According to information received from Agassaim Police Station and subsequent enquiry by Verna Police, the accident occurred on February 15, 2025, at the Cortalim flyover.

It was revealed during investigation that Dangi was riding pillion on an Activa scooter, which was being ridden by Ramesh Tomata, a resident of Patto, Panaji and native of Dang, Nepal. 

The two were travelling from Margao towards Panaji when the scooter met with a self-accident on the Cortalim flyover bridge, causing both riders to fall on the road and sustain injuries.

The body has been preserved at GMC Bambolim for medico-legal formalities.

Verna Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Further investigation is being led by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station, under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
