Dr Satendra Desai, a renowned neurological surgeon from Goa, passed away at the age of 70 on Monday after suffering a massive heart attack. He is survived by his wife Neena, daughters Sheena and Sasha, and elder brother Adv Vallabh Desai.
Dr Desai was the first neurosurgeon to graduate from Goa Medical College and had an extensive career, practising in countries such as Germany, Botswana, and the United States. He was also instrumental in the establishment of a neuro hospital in Delhi.
He had returned to Goa from Bengaluru on Sunday, but felt unwell and was brought home in a wheelchair. On Monday morning, as he was preparing to visit a doctor, he experienced a heart attack that claimed his life.
After returning to Goa, Dr Desai resumed his practice in Margao, where he established a clinic equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. His contributions to neurological and spinal surgery left a lasting impact on many patients.
