The Gaonkar community has held Pallavi Mishra, deputy collector of Sattari, responsible for the chaos that has been going on at the Bhumika temple in Poriem since the last four days. They said that the deputy collector cancelled the previous order and issued a new order which will be challenged in court.
The Gaonkar community has said that it was really unfortunate that the government officials are acting in careless manner. In the press conference they expressed anger about the administrative mess created by the Sub-divisional Magistrate.
Giving more details about the row, they said that on Sakhaleshwar Devasthan anniversary, some groups will perform rituals to the exclusion of others. A memorandum in this regard was given to the Sattari Deputy Collector on December 11. Then on December 16, in the meeting organized by the Sub-divisional Magistrate, the information about this was given in detail to the Sub-divisional Magistrate.
After that, the Sub-divisional Magistrate passed an order that the said ritual should be performed with confidence of all temple Mahajans. However, defying this order, the said ritual was performed only by the congregation of the Majik group. Because of this order of the Deputy collector of Sattari was violated. A copy of the order issued by the Deputy Collector was made public on December 20 at 1.30 pm. Because of this, Gaonkars has expressed suspicion that there may be some conspiracy behind this order.
The Deputy Collector withdrew the order and issued a fresh order. On December 21, the Gaonkar community were not involved in the annual traditional saptha. The Gaonkars clarified that this has insulted the community.
The order given by the Sub-Collector and the change made in it led to a dispute in the temple area. The Gaonkars association questioned how authorities can change the order whenever they want, allowing temples to perform religious rituals at 5 am. Due to this, a suit will be filed in the court against the second order issued by the Sub-divisional Magistrate. They reiterated that will never tolerate insults and that the Gaonkar community should get the right to perform rituals in the temple.
