Shiksha Vision Bicholim celebrated Shiv Jayanti with various events, cultural programmes and competitions to mark the occasion in Bicholim.
A procession comprising men and women attired in traditional dress and headgear was staged across a distance of 7 kms in Bicholim town, to the accompaniment of traditional music.
Senior and junior drama artistes were felicitated by noted writer, Vishram Gupte, in the presence of Shiksha Vision President Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Dr Dinesh Amonkar and Deelip Dhargalkar.
In his address as chief guest, Gupte said Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a great king who always worked for betterment of his kingdum and even after 400 years, Shivaji Maharaj is remembered by everyone, making him one of the truly great leaders.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr Chandrakant Shetye narrated the great work by Shivaji Maharaj for the welfare of people.
He also advised the younger generation to follow the principles and teachings of Shivaji Maharaj.
Among those drama artistes felicitated by Gupte included Suresh Neugi, Suresh Walve, Deepak Marathe, Samit Manerikar, Datta Raval, Paresh Govekar, Bhimakar Mandrekar, Pranay Valavlkar, Sandesh Naik, Nitin Sawal, Prahakar Kambli, Rajendra Harmalkar, Mahadev Kajari Pradeep Govekar, Mahadev Paradkar, Shantaram Chanekar, Atul Parmekar, Sabaji Mopkar and Shivaji Raval.
Prizes were also distributed to winners of various competitions.
