PANAJI: The renowned Shillong Chamber Choir will perform at Old Goa today as part of the ongoing Exposition of the Relics of St Francis Xavier. The free-entry event will begin at 7:00 p.m. on a specially constructed stage near the Se Cathedral. Attendees are requested to be seated by 6:45 p.m.
In preparation for the performance, the veneration of the relics will close early at 5:00 pm instead of the usual 6:00 pm.
The award-winning choir, which won India’s Got Talent in 2010, will deliver a mix of religious hymns, Christmas carols, and patriotic songs, including the national song Vande Mataram.
The choir’s versatility is widely celebrated, having performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Fitz William Quartet, and alongside notable artists such as Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Usha Uthup, and the late Zakir Hussain. They have also performed for global dignitaries, including former U.S. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
