SIT files third charge sheet against Suleman for land fraud in Thivim

The Special Investigation Team (SIT-Land Grab) on Friday filed a third charge sheet against accused Suleman Siddique Khan in connection with fraudulent land dealings in Thivim.

Superintendent of Police (SIT) Rahul Gupta said that the SIT submitted the charge sheet before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mapusa. It comprises 1,364 pages with statements of 45 witnesses attached along with other evidence collected during the investigation.

The charge sheet was filed within 90 days of the arrest of the accused.

The case alleged that prior to July 30, 2020, Suleman, his wife Afsana Khan and Asif Allabaksha Saudagar, committed forgery and fraudulently transferred land titles. The trio allegedly created counterfeit government stamps and impersonated legal heirs to claim ownership of properties in Thivim.

They are charged under sections 465 (forgery), 466 (forgery of a public record), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged documents as genuine), 419 (impersonation), 420 (cheating), 255 (counterfeiting government stamps), 259 (possessing counterfeit government stamps) and 260 (using counterfeit government stamps) read with section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Suleman was recently chargesheeted over his alleged involvement in fraudulent land acquisitions in Mapusa and Curca.
