Goa recorded a drop in temperatures over the last two days with Saturday bringing further relief from the intense heat. The mercury dipped to 34°C.
After being under a yellow alert since March 2, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa did not extend the warning beyond March 15. There are no weather alerts for at least the next four days including March 16.
On Friday, the maximum temperature stood at 34.2°C, before slightly dropping to 34°C in Panaji and 33.9°C in Mormugao on Saturday. The minimum temperature was recorded at 26°C in Panaji and around 26.2°C in Mormugao.
The report indicated that although temperatures remain slightly above normal with a departure of 0.5 to 1°C, conditions have been far less extreme than in recent days when it soared up to 5°C above normal average. However, humidity levels in Panaji recorded 71 percent and Mormugao about 87 percent.
The IMD has forecast maximum temperatures between 34-36°C and minimum temperatures between 24-26°C for the next seven days.
Saturday morning saw hazy conditions until 10 am. While no rainfall is expected, the IMD has stated that temperatures are likely to remain within the normal range.
