Amid the backlash faced by the Pramod Sawant-led BJP government for the bizarre, police-aided escape from custody of notorious criminal Suleman alias Siddiqui Khan, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade on Saturday sought to push the blame entirely on the State police.
“The State police department is 100 per cent responsible for the escape of notorious criminal Suleman alias Siddiqui Khan,” Tanavade who is at the fag end of his term as State party president, said while speaking to journalists.
“There was definitely a lapse on part of the State police,” Tanavade said in a bid to absolve his party’s government adding, the “government” cannot be expected to keep guard at police lock-ups.
