The manager of a five-star resort in Vagator has been booked twice within four days for violating noise pollution regulations by playing loud music during events, disturbing the surrounding locality.
Anjuna Police registered the latest complaint against the manager of five-star resort, Hotel W Goa for playing music beyond permissible limits during the night of December 16-17.
According to the police, music was played continuously from 10 pm on December 16 to 6 am on December 17, with sound levels recorded at 71.4 decibels, exceeding the allowable limits.
The offence has been registered under Section 5 of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, and Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
This is the second time the same manager has been booked for a similar offence. Earlier, on December 13, the police lodged a complaint against the resort for playing loud music on the night of December 12-13.
In that instance, the sound levels reached 65.3 decibels, also surpassing permissible limits.
Local residents have repeatedly voiced their grievances about the resort, alleging that loud music disrupts the peace of the village and causes significant inconvenience.
The Anjuna police are investigating both incidents and have assured the public that appropriate action will be taken to ensure compliance with noise pollution regulations.
