After nearly eight years, the State Environment department has revised fees for authorising disposal of various types of wastes. The last revision took place in 2016.
In an notification issued last month, the Environment department, following decision by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), has revised fees under various Rules that include Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016, the E-waste Management Rules, 2016, the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016.
The fee for authorisation under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016, Under E-Waste Management Rules and Under Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, it is Rs 15,000, respectively.
This means that if you want to handle, store or dispose of hazardous or e-waste or solid waste you need to pay Rs 15,000 to the GSPCB. For those seeking to manufacture, stock, distribute, sell, import or use plastic carry bags, plastic sheets or plastic packaging, the fee for fresh registration has been fixed at Rs 5,000 with one-year validity and Rs 15,000 for subsequent renewal application for three years.
The Board will levy a fee of Rs 5,000 for issuing quarterly certificates for compliance for imports and to industrial units registered with it. Earlier, no fees were levied for these certificates.
