Hundreds bid tearful adieu to two drowning victims of Raia

Relatives, friends, well-wishers and villagers bid a tearful adieu to the two Raia women - Fiona Pachceo and Francila Pires, who breathed their last in the Sunday Karwar tragedy, as their mortal remains were laid to rest at the Raia cemetery on Monday evening.
Funerals of the two women took place at the Raia cemetery on Monday evening.
A total of five Priests, including Parish Priest Fr Leonardo Moares, joined in the Eucharistic celebrations at the Our Lady
of Snows Church before the last rites were conducted at the cemetery as hundreds of people paid their last respects to the departed souls.
In the meantime, Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco informed that the remaining three bodies from Goa, including that of the woman from Curtorim Marcelina, have been brought to Goa from Karwar. He said that two hearse vans belonging to him and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai were sent to bring the three bodies after the post mortem examination.
While Marcelina's body was received at around 2 pm, the remaining two bodies of the deceased from Ponda and Vasco, arrived later in the day.
Meanwhile, Renuka, who was amongst those, who had gone missing in the Sunday tragedy, is believed to be a resident of Comba-Margao, sources said.
