A leopard is reportedly on the prowl in Sarzora village, devouring domestic animals, including cats and dogs from the locality. The wild cat was captured on CCTV footage as it strayed into the backyard of a residential house. It is learnt that Sarzora is among the villages coming under a hill range which is the habitat of wild cats. Wild cats have been seen venturing into human habitat at several places across the state. Many videos of leopards roaming in the backyard of houses looking for prey including hens, cats and dogs are viral on Social Media. These wild animals stray into human dwellings because they have been displaced from the natural habitat and they cannot find food there. It could be a matter of time before (God forbid) one of these straying wild cats attacks a human. It seems necessary to equip households near hilly areas with tranquilizer guns in order to deal with wild cats. Tranquilizer guns are a vital tool in non-lethal animal control. Wildlife officers use these devices to capture and relocate animals that may pose a threat to humans or other wildlife. Tranquilizer guns enable them to safely capture and relocate these animals, preventing potential conflicts with humans.
