Exempt students from entry fees at monuments

WILSON DA COSTA, Quepem | JANUARY 13, 2025, 12:04 AM IST

The government of Goa has recently announced a revision in the entry fees for monuments such as forts, the Navy Museum, Reis Magos Fort, and several other places.

In this context, the government could provide free access to students studying in the State upon presenting a letter from their respective educational institutions.

Traveling in hired buses while adhering to regulations is already a significant expense for schools. Additionally, requiring local students to pay entry fees seems unfair.

Most schools organize educational visits to such places during January, and if students are required to pay entry fees ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 150 at multiple locations, many may be unable to participate in these field trips.

We urge the concerned authorities to reconsider this policy and exempt students, accompanied by their teachers, from paying entry fees to ensure equal opportunities for all.
