India lost two talented and famous artistes in just a week. First we lost tabla maestro Zakir Hussain and then film producer Shyam Benegal. The two contributed to art and culture of India and made India proud in their respective fields. Zakir Hussain acted in the film Saaj in 1997 with Shabana Azmi . His was famous for the ad "Waah ustaad- waah Taj boliye"on Tata Tea. On the other hand Shyam Benegal gave best movies in the field of cinema to India and the world. His movies known as art movies though slow in action depicted reality of life. The movies were based on day-to-day life of the common man and their struggles. His movies 'Ankur' and 'Manthan' gave Indian cinema fame. His art films promoted many artistes like Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and others. His films were far from commercial films with its entertainment of dance and song. True life was depicted on the screen by Shyam Benegal with his talent and ability to showcase the same to society at large. We will miss these two classic artistes in Indian art and culture.
