The government has not paid attention to the education sector; instead, they are closing down 35 more primary schools in the State. Instead of closing schools, the government should promote education and ensure that no one is deprived of education due to a lack of money. This reflects a trend towards the privatisation of education at the grassroots level. The government is abdicating its responsibility by arguing that low-enrollment schools should be closed.
The preference for English medium schools and the increase in private schools have affected the enrollment of students in government schools over time. There is a need to protect government schools. The schools should be strengthened by providing facilities like smart classrooms. These results are sufficiently indicative of the poor condition on the ground, and therefore, the Centre must initiate a detailed survey of the state with a larger sample size to more accurately determine the real condition, so that it may plan and implement an appropriate strategy. Since free education is a fundamental right of our children under the law of the land, the government is obliged to provide all the means of education.
