On August 27, Goa lost its former sports minister due to brief illness. He was MLA from Benaulim constituency and served the people of Goa. But his remarkable achievement was building Nehru stadium at Fatorda which was completed within 7 to 8 months. The said place behind Damodar temple at Fatorda was occupied  partly by  many residences and the same was negotiated for development of stadium at Fatorda. The Margao city has Rajendra Prasad stadium which also has MCC club. The stadium was required at that time for sports activities and many football matches and ODI cricket were also played. In 2007, we saw India-Australia match which was in news for many reasons. Monte Cruz during Pratapsingh  Rane tenure could achieve this and will be remembered for the said sports ground with seating capacity of  around 35,000 people. One  stand at the stadium should be named after such a personality and Goa government should name it in Monte Cruz's honour.
