For the film "Anora" Sean Baker etched his name onto four awards. The record for the most awards won by a single individual at the same ceremony belongs to Walt Disney. This year’s Oscars brought another coincidence, as Baker equalled that record. For the past few years, Baker has been portraying socially neglected subjects through cinema. Anora tells the story of a sex worker in Los Angeles. His love for cinema began after watching Universal Monster with his mother at a local cinema library. He completed his education in a school in New Jersey. His passion for films led him to work as a projectionist at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair during his early days. He also worked as a taxi driver for some time. In 2000, he made his first feature film, Four Letter Words, which he wrote, directed, and edited himself. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Golden Globe, BAFTA, the Writers Guild of America Award, Cannes, and now the Oscar.

"While making such films, the competition is always against big-budget movies, so the Academy recognizing an independent film like Anora is a significant achievement," Baker said.
