Ministers must know religion and political gains don't mix

JERRY FERNANDES, Saligao | JANUARY 07, 2025, 07:47 PM IST

Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho while speaking at a BJP event in Dabolim has publicly said that he identifies himself more with the Hindu faith than with his own religion, Christianity to impress/stay in good books with his party bosses and to continue enjoying his own 'ache-din' in Goa. Well, the whole world knows that Godinho is a known political opportunist/politician, if not a chameleon and who will go to any extent to desperately hold on to his own political chair in Goa. Hey, wasn't this same Godinho heard abusing the BJP in the state at one point of time by calling it communal and confidentially saying that he would never leave the Congress party when he was a Congressman plus minister & enjoying his own 'ache-din' in a Congress run government for so many years in the past in Goa? I think that Godinho should stop making some senseless statements about religion and talking about the so-called 'roots' of his own religion for political gains in the state. Because the one thing most 'niz-Goenkaars' know is that those who display greed for worldly pleasures/wealth, who support corruption follow no religion and cannot be regarded as Goans under no circumstances in Goa.
