This is with reference to the news report 'More Hindu than Christian ' ----' (TGE, Jan 6). Like Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, there are a few others in the community who also feel "more Hindu than Christian" and have not hesitated to adopt the surname of their Hindu ancestors, after tracing their ancestral roots. Probably, Godinho would feel more comfortable by doing the same . However, religion being a personal matter, Godinho as minister in the Goa government should have exercised more restraint before going public with his religious sentiments, knowing very well that ours is a secular country which treats all religions as equal with no preference to any.
