Yesterday I was commuting via the Borda main road and I was shocked to notice what appeared to be the construction of an upcoming mega chain store. As a resident of Borda, I along with fellow Bordekars can attest to the traffic troubles we've been facing over the past few years which have only worsened recently. One may argue that the proliferation of shops along the main road and the lack of parking space, often forcing people to park on the main road itself, are significant reasons for this issue. If this mega chain store becomes fully operational, then the already persistent traffic problem will worsen because there's no facility for basement parking and thus people will inevitably park along the main road. Even worse, vehicles seeking parking spots will spill into the many non-gated residential areas surrounding the store, thereby blocking residents' access and creating undue nuisance. So, my questions are: how was the opening of this mega store sanctioned in the first place? How are buildings with shops and other commercial establishments, in general, granted permission or licenses to operate without proper consideration for parking facilities?
