Govt must make efforts to uplift Goan football

The recently presented budget by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has not mentioned much about the sports allocation funds. The GFA has been starved of their grants to conduct their activities for the delay of release of the funds in the last financial year. What happened to Goa Football Development Council, the flagship of developing football at the grassroot level, the main vision of the late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who went on to establish almost 37 football grassroot training centres to develop football the scientific way.  To add a feather to cap of  GFDC, the late chief minister established a residential training centre for football. My appeal to the Chief Minister and Sports Minister is to have relook into the Goa Football Development Council and let us work to uplift football in Goa to its old glory that produced great Indian footballers and Arjuna awardees like Brahmanand Shankwalkar and Bruno Coutinho. See how BCCI has managed to produce star cricket players and it has become a major revenue earning sport.  If football is reawakened India can take on the world and rattle European football nations.
