Goa’s unique topography presents challenges for unfamiliar tourists navigating its roads. Sharp turns, narrow interior roads, and numerous blind spots due to dense vegetation or closely situated houses can be hazardous. Compounding these issues are reckless drivers flouting traffic rules, including underage riders, overloaded two-wheelers (passengers or goods), speeding and lane cutting, and failure to use indicators at intersections. Ideally, drivers should adhere to rules regardless of monitoring; unfortunately, that is followed only in the presence of traffic cops. Another concern is the lack of guidance from rent-a-cab drivers, who fail to educate tourists on road types, speed precautions, and intersection safety.
