Streamline policy for scrapping old vehicles

There are vehicles that have been well cared for and comfortable, in excellent condition and carefully driven which are sparingly used by owners/senior citizens with no maintenance and with PUC parameters. De-registering a vehicle to sell it to a scrap dealer for someone who cannot afford to run or purchase a new vehicle is now officially available at Madkai Industrial estate. They appear to be a Rajasthan-based company as they efficiently collected, did all the paperwork and disposed of my 23-year-old scooty in running condition. However they paid me only Rs 1,200  as against a scrap dealer/private parties offering me Rs 4,000 or some more but they bypass legal requirements like cancellation of registration with RTO.  As new vehicles and EVs roll out, there is great need for the government to come out quickly with a policy and rules after consultation with all the stakeholders to streamline the process for manufacturers, dealers, insurers and customers, RTO and licensed scrap dealers. Trust the authorities will see the need to consider this matter urgently, also dispose of all old vehicles lying on the roadsides, government departments as this dealer has the capacity.
