Goa was once a peaceful destination, popular with international tourists who enjoyed its friendly atmosphere. Today, the beaches are overcrowded, mainly with Indian tourists, and some display disrespectful behaviour. Many harass foreign visitors by taking their photos in beachwear without permission. During a recent New Year’s Eve party, large numbers of tourists irresponsibly threw beer bottles on the sand, endangering others. This kind of behaviour damages Goa’s image.
Tourists who drink openly, sleep anywhere in public, and create chaos after getting drunk are not welcome. They often fight amongst themselves, and when the police intervene, some even attack officers. Such behaviour harms Goa’s reputation.
Despite these challenges, beach cleaning teams are doing excellent work in maintaining cleanliness, and lifeguards work hard to protect tourists. However, festival events see gangs targeting visitors for robberies, stealing wallets and phones. While the police are trying their best to ensure safety, political interference undermines their efforts. It is essential to enforce rules equally for everyone, without exceptions for those who misuse money and power. Goa deserves tourists who respect its culture and environment.
