Some BJP leaders (which include CM Pramod Sawant) along with 'Shiv premis' were seen garlanding Shivaji statues in the state and taking out huge bike rallies on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti celebrations. The government would also do well to unveil the statues of great Indian leaders like Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Rani Laxmi Bai, Subhash Chandra Bose, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak etc and celebrate their birth/death anniversaries as well in Goa. And by the way, didn't our own Goan leaders do any good for Goa? Didn't they suffer at the hands of the former Portuguese rulers especially during Goa's liberation struggle? We would also like to see statues of all those great Goan leaders like Dr Jack Sequeira who were responsible for protecting our unique Goan identity during the historic opinion poll soon after Goa's liberation. I think that if some people want to follow in the footsteps of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj then they should dare to stop our politicians from auctioning this state to all outsiders for the greed of money and liberate it from the filth of drugs, prostitution, dance bars, casinos etc.
