Youth activists needed to save Goa from destruction

Even though former Sarpanch of Sancoale village, Premanand Naik had to end his hunger strike against Bhutani Infra due to health issues, his campaign continues unhindered as community members, activists and social workers continued their chain hunger strike against the mega project at Savorfond, Sancoale.

What has come as a pleasant surprise is that a group of youth activists along with Chicalim parish priest Fr Bolmax Pereira joined the hunger strike and questioned the State government's inaction in Bhutani Infra matter.

Today’s youth activists should be ready to take their responsibility for Goa by stopping its systematic destruction. The State will not be able to sustain these mega projects that are coming up. The youth have to come forward to save their motherland.

This is not the Goa they want to inherit. The banner of revolt has to be passed over to the youth of today. One cannot expect senior citizens to carry on the fight.

There are several gifted youth activists who need to stand shoulder to shoulder with the social activists of today and ultimately one day take over from them.

We need to see more of these young leaders, young champions and torch bearers. These are turbulent times for the state. Unless the youth take up the fight, Goa as we know it, will be lost forever.
