Lupin adopts Cudnem village under CSR initiative

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said agro-based businesses, alongside industrial development, are important for economic growth, even as he stressed on organic farming as the key sector in future.

Sawant was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Lupin Ltd CSR programme in Sakhali. The company has adopted Cudnem village in Sakhali under its CSR initiative. 

Srinivas Rao Kalakuntla, Location Head Lupin Ltd’s Goa plant, Yogesh Prabhu Project Manager LHWRF, Sindhudurg District, Lupin Goa plant representatives Gurudatta Bhat, Lucio Valadares, Tejesh Malushte, Sarpanch of Cudnem Suresh Kamat, Deputy Sarpanch Vanshika Malik, panch member, temple 

head Malik and mamlatdar Pandit were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister thanked Lupin Ltd for choosing Cudnem village for holistic development and acknowledged that Lupin Foundation has worked in more than 4,171 villages in nine states even before 1988 when the CSR Act was enacted. 

He assured that with the cooperation of Lupin Foundation, the government will speed up the development projects especially focussing on reducing the use of plastics within the state.

Lupin Foundation is currently conducting various programmes in Ibrampur and the nearby villages of Pernem taluka. 

The changes brought about by the CSR initiative in Ibrampur were presented by ex-sarpanch Khadapkar. 

The CM stated that the efforts of the government and NGOs are not enough for development and active participation of the people was the key factor for success.

The programme began with the inauguration of Water ATM at the panchayat and laying of the foundation stone for a bus stop. 

After the lighting of the traditional lamp in the temple, umbrellas were distributed to small hawkers.

Stainless steel milk cans were presented to dairy farmers, utensils (kadai) were given to the women of self-help groups and anganwadi representatives received educational material like charts during the programme.

Location Head of Lupin Ltd Goa, Srinivas Rao Kalakuntla, spoke of the dedication and importance of CSR in the village, even as he called upon the locals to work together with the company for development. 

Gurudatta Bhat familiarised the dignitaries and attendees with the various drives, initiatives and programmes of Lupin Foundation that covered various sectors. 

He also informed that the Lupin Foundation would work closely with the villagers to bring in some time-bound development projects with the help of the State government.

Cudnem villagers, especially youth and women, attended the programme in large numbers. Sarpanch of Cudnem Suresh Kamat, Deputy Sarpanch Vanshika Malik and all panch members participated in the programme.

Francis Fernandes, in charge of Goa Block of LHWRF-Lupin Foundation, took efforts to make this programme a success.
