If Shiv Jayanti celebrations passed off peacefully at Sao Jose de Areal, the district authorities led by district Collector Egna Cleetus may deserve compliments. For, when the police appeared inclined to provide access for visitors to the statue through the controversial access, the Collector descended on the ground with Additional Collector Srinetbab Kothwale. The Collector did not agree with the police, but instead told them to ensure visitors go to the statue through the alternate access. The celebrations passed off peacefully, but many now hope the Collector does not meet the same fate like that of ex-South District SP, Sunitabai Sawant, shunted out after she called for a list of Bajrang Dal members in South Goa. You know why.
Shiv Jayanti brings together politicos of different parties
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj became a rallying point for politicos of different hues at Margao on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti earlier this week. Be it BJP State chief Damubab Naik, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai, Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco, Navelim MLA Ulhasbab Tuenkar and others all came together to observe Shiv Jayanti at the Margao Housing Board. Margao MLA Diggu was the lone absentee, but son Yogiraj represented him at the celebrations. Attired in saffron turbans, the politicos posed for photographs. Jai Shivaji.
No alliance, strengthen party: Goa desk in-charge’s mantra
What message did Congress Goa Desk Secretary Dr Anjalibai Nimbalkar sent to the party rank and file when she urged the workers to strengthen the party if they are against political alliances? Well, Anjalibai took to the social media platform to say “one voice was No Alliance with other parties. We will strengthen the party organisation at grassroot level and bring Congress back to power”. Moments later, Congress leaders went to the town ruling out the possibility of electoral alliances with other parties. Wait and watch as the question of electoral alliances is expected to be decided on the eve of the 2027 polls.
AAP nat’l leaders dismiss Cong warning, urge cadre to expand
When Congress Goa Desk Secretary Dr Anjalibai kicked off her constituency-wise interaction with party block workers, senior Aam Aadmi Party national leaders were in Goa around the same time. Party leaders Durgesh Pathak and Deepak Singla had interactions with AAP volunteers, both in North and South Goa. Guess what AAP national leaders have to say on the clamour made by Congress workers not to have truck with AAP or other parties in the 2027 polls. Well, if sources are to be believed, AAP national leaders have told the party cadre to go out and strengthen the party across the State? Any questions?
Atishi to visit Goa, inaugurate AAP’s South Goa office in Margao
Ex-Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader, Atishi Marlena is expected to descend in Goa during the weekend, but for a different reason – to inaugurate party’s South Goa office at Margao. Local AAP leaders were still on the job, trying to confirm Atishi’s visit to Goa. One thing, however, is clear that opening of the AAP district office in Margao is a clear indication to all and sundry that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has come to stay in Goa. Local Congress leaders may wonder what AAP is up to and that too in its stronghold South Goa. Any questions?
