Political friends clash: Babush, Vijai face off over job recruitment

The alleged cash-for-jobs scam left political observers to wonder what has gone wrong between long-time political friends, Revenue Minister Babush Monserrate and Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai. Indeed, observers are trying to figure out what brought the duo face to face over the LDC recruitment in the South Goa Collectorate, with an agitated Vijaibab making serious claims on cash-for-jobs scam. What seemed to have further infuriated the Goa Forward chief was that Babush did not return his calls when he wanted clarification on the recruitment. Wait and watch whether the Goa Forward chief will take the matter to its logical conclusion.

Waiting game for Cabinet rejig may continue amid inauspicious period

With curtains coming down on the 11 days Ganesh Chaturthi festivities on September 17, the same old question has come back to haunt the ruling dispensation over the much-talked about Cabinet reshuffle. Some say the Cabinet rejig may not take place soon after Ganesh Chaturthi. For, the Pitru Paksha period is commencing from September 18, which many a politico consider it as inauspicious. Sources say the Cabinet hopefuls may have to wait till the end of the fortnight-long Pitru Paksha period. Incidentally, questions are raised whether Pramodbab Sawant will go in for Cabinet reshuffle before or after the ensuing Maharashtra Assembly polls. Wait and watch.

Fisheries, stakeholders resort to blame game over Cutbona mess

Who’s responsible for the mess at the Cutbona fishing jetty – the jetty owner, which is the Fisheries department or the boat owners? Well, Fisheries Minister Nilkanthbab Harlankar has sought to push the blame on the fishing stakeholders for the situation in respect of the rot at the 222-metre extended Cutbona jetty. But, can the Fisheries department shirk its responsibility over the jetty, as it has been a revenue earner over the years? Indeed negligence of the jetty has come to haunt the Fisheries Minister and his outgoing Fisheries Director. Any questions?

Double joy: Venzy celebrates Kejriwal’s bail, daughter’s b’day

Release of Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on bail seemed to have charged up party leaders and cadre in Goa. In fact, Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas took to the social media to announce double celebrations, saying his daughter’s birthday coincided with Kejriwal Sir’s bail. It’s a sheer coincidence that AAP leader Manish Sisodia had walked out of jail last month on Venzybab’s birthday. Other AAP leaders seemed in a jubilant mood post-Kejriwal’s release on bail.
