Saxttikars have once again sounded the war bugle against mega housing projects. The taluka was the epicentre of the mega housing projects around a decade and half ago. Having fought a sustained battle against real estate giants including the Rahejas in the recent past, people from Saxttidom are bracing up for another round of battle. Presence of Saxtti-based activists at Sancoale and other places is a clear indication of the winds blowing against mega housing projects. If the mood at the gram sabhas is any indication, the stage seemed set for a battle against big housing projects. Wait and watch.
Calls for Bhandari-Catholic unity to dislodge BJP in 2027 elections
Goemkars from all walks of life made a common cause with ex-Sancoale Sarpanch Premanandbab Naik when he went on a hunger strike against the Bhutani project. What, however, has raised the attention of political observers was the presence of Bhandari Samaj leaders alongside Premanandbab at the venue of the hunger strike. Be it ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar, Datta Prasadbab Naik, Ramraobab Wagh, Pradipbab Naik and others from the Bhandari Samaj all came to show their solidarity with the ex-Sancoale Sarpanch. A vocal Dattabab even called for the coming together of the Catholic and Bhandari Samaj to dislodge the BJP in 2027. Any questions?
Reginaldo faces resistance from Raia residents over Curtorim PS
How would Curtorim Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco go about the construction of the Rs 15 crore Maina-Curtorim police station building at Sonsodo? For, residents of Raia have hit the stop button to red flag the project on grounds the police station building is proposed on the village bio-diversity site. Reginaldbab must be certainly anxious to take the long pending police station building project to its logical conclusion for the simple reason that this is one dream project he has taken up with the saffron brigade after extending support to the BJP in 2022. Wait and watch.
Vijai’s Krishna Vijai Utsav strikes chord with Fatorda and beyond
Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai must be certainly pleased with the just concluded Krishna Vijai Utsav aka Narkasura competition. For, the competition funded by him on the sprawling SGPDA grounds evoked huge response from people from all walks of life from Fatorda and outside. In fact, political observers say the success of the programme should hopefully create a feel good factor for the Goa Forward chief in his home constituency and outside in his mission to reach out to the majority community in recent times. Any questions?
Change of heart: Cops relax rules for Vijai’s ‘Narkasura’ competition
This may sound strange, but true. No late night cultural or social events organised by Goa Forward chief Vijaybab Sardesai had in the recent past ended sans police action. The Krishna Vijai Utsav aka Narkasur competition may be an exception. For, unlike the past when the men-in-khaki had played spoilsport by implementing sound ban in letter and spirit, police personnel were busy on the ground to regulate traffic at the Old Market circle this time round as the competition continued past midnight before culminating around dawn. Guess the reasons behind the change in heart of the men-in-khaki this time round? No reward for the right guess.
