Saxtti political observers seemed closely watching the movements and initiatives of the Aam Aadmi Party. The 2027 election may be still two years away, but the Aam Aadmi Party seemed to have come under the lens of political observers in Saxttidom and outside. The reason is not far to seek. Political observers say that AAP has been taking up issues, including the two issues dear to the heart of Goemkars, including the minority community – a new regional plan and equal status for Konkani in Roman script. Take note, low-profile AAP Velim MLA Cruzbab Silva’s initiative on the two issues seemed to have evoked encouraging response in and around Saxttidom. Any questions?
LDCs recruitment in MMC: Kamat cynosure of all eyes
Margao Municipal Council’s recruitment to fill up the 11 posts of LDCs in the civic body has stirred a hornet’s nest. Reason: A year ago, when the civic body had sought to fill up the posts, reports did the rounds that MMC was rushing with the exercise to accommodate the kith and kin of ruling councillors. Whether the reports have any basis or not is another matter, Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu is in the cynosure of all eyes. Diggu has issued a categorical statement that only merit would decide the fate of the candidates. None other than the seasoned Margao MLA knows for sure that he will have to face the brickbats if the kith and kin of councillors pocket the jobs. For, hundreds of unemployed youth from Margao are expected to apply for the vacant posts. Any takers?
Vijai’s silence on recruitment issue raises eyebrows
Recruitment for the 11 posts of LDCs in the Margao Municipal Council seemed to have generated much heat in the corridors of the civic body and outside. Incidentally, nothing much has been heard on the issue from the Goa Forward party chief Vijaibab Sardesai or party-backed Margao Municipal councillors. Compared to 2023 when Vijaibab had charged the Council and the government with plans to give the jobs for the kith and kin of the ruling BJP councillors, no statement has still come from the regional party on the recruitment till date. Wait and watch.
Saffron brigade rallies behind Barbosa as TAG president
The saffron brigade seemed to have strongly rallied behind party’s ST leader Anthonybab Barbosa on his appointment as Tiatr Academy of Goa President. Anthonybab’s appointment as TAG head had come under the lens of critics, with some questioning the criteria adopted on filling up the post. Party leaders, however, are backing the new TAG president to the hilt. After Anthonybab referred to critics questioning his appointment, party leader and NRI Commissioner Narendrabab Sawaikar asserted the government is behind the new TAG chief. Will Anthonybab use the government backing to realise the dream of tiatrists to have a Tiatr Bhavan in the State. Wait and watch.
Questions raised over filling up GFDC chairperson’s post
The government has filled up the vacant post of Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) post with the appointment of party ST leader Anthonybab Barbosa. What about the Goa Football Development Council (GFDC)? Has the government any plans to fill up the post of chairman, GFDC in the immediate future? And, whether any name has been shortlisted by the government to head the GFDC? These questions have come to the fore after Sports Minister Govindbab Gaude had recently stated that GFDC will soon get a head. Wait and watch.
