Goa’s Agriculture Policy? When will it be approved and notified? Is there any delay in notifying the policy? Well, these and other questions have come to the fore this week after Agriculture Minister Ravibab Naik announced that he has submitted the Agriculture policy to the government for approval, further informing that the draft will become a policy when it gets the Cabinet nod. This is, however, not the first time that Ravibab has announced that he has submitted the policy document to the government for a Cabinet nod. When will the Agriculture policy receive the Cabinet nod? Wait and watch.
Citizens seek action against
erring Cuncolim IDC units
Cuncolikars seemed tired of inspections and studies to assess the environmental damage caused by pollution at the Cuncolim Industrial estate over the years. In fact, pollution at the Cuncolim IDC had once reached the Supreme Court and agitated citizens have now knocked the doors of National Green Tribunal for justice. With patience running out, what the citizens now insist is action against the erring units and their closure. Wait and watch how would the government go about capping pollution at the Cuncolim IDC when owners of fish processing units recently invited Chief Minister and Opposition leader to inspect their units, while Opposition Leader Yuribab Alemao has called for a EIA study?
Transfer of Margao PS
in-charge mired in mystery
Government’s order transferring the in-charge of Margao police station seemed mired in mystery. For, it’s now months since the police department had shunted out Margao PI Tulsidasbab Naik and replaced him with PI Ditendrabab Naik at the Margao police station. In a surprise turn of events, the transfer order has not been given effect till date. What’s further interesting to know is that the transfer order has not been revoked either. It’s not clear how and who has stalled the order. And, neither is it clear whether PI Tulsidas Naik was reluctant to leave Margao police station or whether PI Ditendra Naik was not keen in assuming office at Margao. The mystery continues.
MMC councillor irked as only
Fatorda kiosks removed
Are there two yardsticks to deal with roadside kiosks and gaddas in the commercial capital, questioned a ruling BJP Margao Municipal City Father from Fatorda. In fact, an agitated MMC councillor Camilbab Barretto questioned how come the civic body has removed road side kiosks only from Fatorda when similar kiosks along roadsides are literally the order of the day in neighbouring Margao. Unable to digest the action from his very own Council, Camilbab rushed to the media with questions, only to later realize the civic body had initiated action as per the district Collector’s order as demanded by Fatorda MLA Vijaibab Sardesai. Any questions?
Why was Venzy harping on
work order for playground?
When Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas launched the ambitious Carmona panchayat playground during the weekend, he was seen insisting that the foundation stone has been laid for the project armed with a work order and a contractor to execute the work. For a moment, Carmonkars might have wondered why the MLA, who hails from Carmona village, was harping on the project work order. Realization later dawned that a foundation stone for the same project was laid by Venzybab’s predecessor Churchillbab Alemao just before the 2022 Assembly elections. Any questions?
