As Ministers and aspirants for a Cabinet berth prefer to keep their fingers crossed over the much-anticipated Cabinet rejig, it’s now increasingly clear that the fate of the incumbent Ministers will depend on three basis criteria – performance, conduct with the public and whether he is an asset to the organisation. When Varca strongman Bab Churchill went to the town challenging the Benaulim MLA to show any development in Benaulim after his exit in 2022, Venzybab preferred to ignore the claim. Not one who will shy away from calling spade a spade, the Merchant Navy Captain-turned-politician did not want to join issue with any of his political adversaries on his home turf, be it the ex-MLA or Benaulim Congress leaders, opposed to any tie-up with the Arvind Kejriwal-led party in Goa. Who had ever imagined that the next door BJP poster boy from Fatorda would rub shoulders with BJP’s top national top leadership one day? Well, BJP State President Damubab Naik was in the thick of action this week. For the first time after taking over the reins of party leadership, Damubab called on Prime Minister Narendrabai Modi, to discuss the gamut of party issues pertaining to Goa. He also had a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, party Chief J P Nadda and other party leaders. In the past, Damubab must have called on these leaders as part of numerous party delegations.
