It was a week when Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant wished Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai a Merry Christmas in advance when the duo attended the inauguration of the Margao western bypass.

Relations between Pramodbab and Vijaibab seemed to have hit rock bottom over the jobs-for-cash scam and the Fatorda-London investment scam. As the CM was about to board his car after the inauguration, he turned towards Vijaibab just to say goodbye. When Vijaibab reciprocated, the CM extended his hand to wish the Goa Forward Chief “Merry Christmas in advance,” leaving many an onlooker surprised at the exchange of pleasantries. Any questions?

Suleman re-arrest: Vijai's man Friday beats CM to the punch
Guess who broke the news about the re-arrest of land-grab fugitive Suleman in Kerala earlier this week? Well, none other than Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant, who also holds the Home portfolio. The CM officially announced Suleman’s arrest on Monday after inaugurating the Margao western bypass. But hold on. Just minutes before the CM’s official announcement, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s man Friday, Ramnarthbab, had shared the news with scribes at the inauguration function. He even said the Goa Police were on the way back to Goa with Suleiman. Interesting, isn’t it?

A friend indeed: GFP chief 'rushes' to aid of AAP chief
A friend in need is a friend indeed, so goes the good old adage. When Aam Admi Party Goa unit chief Amitbab Palekar was summoned by the Crime Branch in connection with Suleman’s video, Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai, along with party leaders Mohandasbab Loliekar and Bhagat, too descended at the Crime Branch office. The Goa Forward chief may not enjoy the best of relations with Goa AAP leaders. Sources, however, say Vijaibab shares a close rapport with Amitbab Palekar. When the Goa Forward chief received a call from the AAP chief asking whether he could come to the Crime Branch office, Vijaibab reportedly rushed to Ribandar, leaving his engagements.  Any questions?

Service road mishaps: Venzy takes aim at political rivals
The spate of accidents on the service roads of the western bypass gave Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas an armament not only to fire shots at his political opponents but to send a message loud and clear that the bypass was cleared before he could become the MLA. During an inspection of the accident-prone service roads, Venzybab told the media that he had inherited the bypass as the project was started before his election as MLA. In fact, he tried to send across a message that the issues plaguing the service roads would not have cropped up if measures had been adopted by the previous dispensation. Any takers?

Last straw? Cong eyes break from AAP amid Delhi drama
Amidst rising tensions between the Aam Admi Party and the Congress in Delhi in the run-up to the elections for the Delhi Legislative Assembly, local Congress leaders expect the party will sever all ties with the Arvind Kejriwal party in Goa. In fact, a Congress leader remarked that AAP’s attack on Congress in Delhi should serve as an eye-opener for the Congress leadership and put an end to the alliance between the two parties, not just in Delhi but in Goa too. Wait and watch.
